Welcome to our China Blog!

Welcome to Edublogs.org. I leave tomorrow (4/11/06) for China.  In all, it will take about 20 to 24 hours of traveling to reach Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China.  Once there I plan on sharing with you the daily agenda and to post comments and pictures of what I see and experience.  Feel free to add your thoughts, ask questions or make requests.  Ideas to consider might include:  What would we like to see our relationship with our Sister School grow into?  If you got the chance to travel to China would you?  Why or why not?  China has a very old culture, what might we learn from them?  What might they learn from us?  Should Chinese be taught at HWP?  Why or why not?

I will write again once the plane lands!  Hope to hear from you soon.

Mr. Lazaroff

My students are reading a Non-Fiction book entitled Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah. I would be intereted to know if this piece of literature is known in China, and if so, how do they feel about it.

    Have a great trip!

We are looking forward to hearing about your long flight. When you talk to the students and teachers in Jinan, please let them know that our 6th graders would love to hear from them. The Jinan students could communicate with us by commenting at our Room 613 Student Blogs http://hetherington.learnerblogs.org/
There they can read student writing on social studies, books, science, movies, music and even games. There even is a translation button that will allow them to read the blog in Chinese!

I hope your travels went well. Today some of my students asked if you really took their “letters” and cards with you to China. I reassured them that their tokens of kindness would be offered to the students in our sister school. Looking forward to your next entry.

I am concerned about this person called Mike Hetherington. I think he has stolen identity and is camoflaged under an educator luring in communication. My son’s ID has been stolen and lost therefore I suspect fraud with this person calling themselves Mike or Michael Hetherington.
